Our Cabaret & Drag taster sessions for people who live, study or work in Waltham Forest are run by epic drag king, musician, comedian and performance-maker Len Blanco (All the King’s Men in the West End, All Together Now on BBC One).
Open to everyone 18+ who’s ever wanted to dip their toe in the water and try some drag and cabaret-style performance. You can have any level of experience (including none at all), from all backgrounds and lived experiences.
Specialist sessions
Sat 10 May and Sat 28 June: Cabaret & Drag taster session for participants from global majority backgrounds (facilitator tbc).
Sat 24 May: Cabaret & Drag taster session for d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent participants (facilitators tbc).
While of course we welcome and encourage participants from global majority and d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent backgrounds in all of the taster sessions we offer, we also acknowledge that sometimes cabaret & drag spaces can feel exclusive or difficult to access. So with that in mind, the above specialist tasters are for anyone who wants to explore cabaret in a safe space, with other participants who you may share a sense of community with, as well as tailored access support.
You can do just one or any combination of the above sessions – just book yourself in for whatever you fancy. Please note, these are stand alone sessions, and not a running weekly course. So if you book for multiple sessions some content may be repeated.
