Soho Theatre and Mayor of London are delighted to be returning with Diwali on the Square 2024. Featuring some of the biggest and most exciting up and coming names on the British South Asian and Indian comedy circuit, this is a FREE show for everyone in the family to enjoy, whatever your age.

Back to back shows at 3pm and 5pm featuring the brilliant comedic talents of:

Anirban Dasgupta
Your host for the shows, Anirban is a stand-up comedian & screenwriter with a distinct comedic style. He left his career as a corporate salesman, and has headlined at major comedy clubs and festivals around India and abroad and is the first comedian from India to appear on Just For Laughs (JFL) Montreals “New Faces International” (2022) and Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) “Opening Night Gala” (2023). His stand-up special “Take It Easy” is India’s first special streaming in black and white on Amazon Prime Video. Following that, he co-wrote & created “Afsos”, a Dark Comedy Series that released globally on Amazon Prime Video.

Nayonica Ghosh
A comedian and filmmaker from Leicester, Nayonica has been featured on BBC iPlayer’s Upload festival, Time Out and Gal-Dem. As a filmmaker her writing was shortlisted for the Sky Comedy Rep 2022 scheme and her short films have screened around the UK including at the BFI,Barbican and Roundhouse.

Joshua Bethania
An award-winning standup comedian from India. Joshua has previously won So You Think You’re Funny? and was a BBC New Comedy Awards Finalist in 2022. In the same year he also won King Gong at The Comedy Store and became a NATYS Finalist. Also seen on BBC, Channel 4, OFTV and Comedy Central.

Seeta Wrightson
Semi finalist of BBC new comedy awards and tour support for Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Tessa Coates, Seeta is a 5ft 2 brown, Bradfordian woman, sharing the stories of growing up mixed race, mixed up and utterly skint – but with attitude aplenty.

Rohan Sharma
Rohan is a 25 year old comedian with little to say and a lot of words to say it with. He has just come off of a sell-out Fringe this year with the prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve, and has written for Radio 4Extra. He has also been a 2Northdown and So You Think You’re Funny Finalist. ‘Very Surreal and Very Funny’ – Voicemag. ‘Brought the Crowd to Hysterics’ – The Tab.

 

This is the sixth time we’ve hosted the Soho Theatre Comedy Tent at Diwali on the Square. Previous acts include Sindhu Vee, Nish Kumar, Aditi Mittal, Anuvab Pal and Kanan Gill.
