The 2017 Verity Bargate Award winning play

Citysong is a play, a poem and a chorus of voices showing three generations of a Dublin family on one epic day.

It turns out one day holds the entire past. Teen discos, late night taxis, first kisses, home nurses, vigilantes, babies, immigrants and seagulls. Intimate and sweeping, joyous and ridiculous, it’s different things at different times. Which makes sense seeing as it’s about change. Irish writer Dylan Coburn Gray was the stand-out winner of Soho Theatre’s Verity Bargate Award in 2017, with the judges describing Citysong as ‘epic’ and ‘spellbinding’.

Citysong premieres at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin before transferring to Soho Theatre.
