A whole load of theatrical delights for 2018.
We may be in the midst of a golden age of cabaret and drag but we’ve been hosting some of the world’s finest cabaret & drag artists on our stages for years now.
Think Kiki & Herb, Tiger Lillies, Our Lady J, Jinkx Monsoon & Major Scales, CHRISTEENE, Bourgeois & Maurice, Jonny Woo, Lucy McCormick, David Hoyle, East End Cabaret, Diane Chorley, Denim, Le Gateau Chocolat, Bridget Everitt…okay, we’ll stop, but y’all know we could go on.
So obviously we’re now running our very own cabaret & drag course. Perfect for those of you who want to discover the artform or further develop your skills.
Our course runs for 10 weeks, led by George Heyworth, one half of Bourgeois & Maurice – our favourite ‘sequin-clad satirical weirdos’ – plus special guests.
They’ll teach you how to:
Meeting Saturdays 12 May – 7 July 12.45pm – 3.15pm, leading to a public sharing at the end of the term, Sat 21 July. We ask that participants commit to attending all 10 weeks. And at the end of the term we’ll hold a public sharing, where you’ll be able to showcase what you’ve learned. Course cost is £125 with a few bursaries available.
Applications are currently closed and will re-open late July.
Recently celebrating 10 years in the business with their show Style Over Substance – A 10 Year Retro-Speculative, Bourgeois & Maurice are one of UK’s most subversive and innovative musical acts. Blending the line between contemporary cabaret, alternative comedy and prancing around in sequins, their work has been seen around the globe from New York to Belgrade, from a converted public toilet to the Royal Opera House.
