With the submission window for the Verity Bargate Award open until 17 June, Soho Theatre have been hosting playwriting workshops at venues across the UK and Ireland.
For this workshop, we’re specifically inviting participants who live, work or study in Waltham Forest, to join us at Soho Theatre, Dean Street.
Within the workshop, writers will be provided with information about the scope of Soho Theatre’s current programs, their three theatre spaces, and what storytelling and theatricality mean to us.
In the first part of the workshop, writers will learn about the Verity Bargate Award and Soho Theatre’s heritage of new writing.
In the second part we look at samples from a number of plays to investigate how they are structured, the form they take, their style and subject matter.
There will also be a chance for participants to attend a Saturday matinee performance of the most recent Verity Bargate Award winning play, Boys On the Verge of Tears by Sam Grabiner.
