An homage to the 1978 Bollywood film, Satyam Shivam Sundaram is a contemporary exploration of identity and metamorphosis, celebrating the journey of reconnecting with a home left behind.
In collaboration with Cypriot composer Vasilis Konstantinides, the duo fuse world music to mirror the sagas of their ancestry with iconic cinematic references. Inspired by the sultry rebellion of Bollywood actresses, Shafeeq’s Muslim voice cuts through the cacophony of an increasingly alienating world.
Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram is an enlightening musical journey, revealing the truths, divinity, and beauty that unite us all.
Part of Soho Rising Festival 2024, a celebration of new work created by comedians, writers and performers who have taken part in our Writers’ Lab, Comedy Lab or Cabaret & Drag Lab programmes.
