The Living Record Collection and Soho Theatre presents

Salty Brine: How Strange It Is (The Neutral Milk Hotel Show)

Edinburgh Fringe Run Thu 6 – Sun 30 Aug 26 90 minutes
New York cabaret star Salty Brine returns with a new show filled with wit, spectacle and heart.

In How Strange It Is, Neutral Milk Hotel’s indie-rock triumph In the Aeroplane Over the Sea and Anne Frank’s stunning and candid The Diary of a Young Girl fuse with confessions from Salty’s adolescent longings in a genre-defying cabaret that will take your breath away.

Sparks fly, time bends, and the ghosts of our past return to us in this hilarious and devastating work from Salty’s acclaimed and expansive Living Record Collection.

Salty Brine is the creative force behind The Living Record Collection, a dazzling expedition into the heart of popular music that imagines track lists as blueprints for evenings of musical mayhem, creating the perfect cabaret experience for theatre-lovers.

Best Fringe Show nominee
The List Festival Awards 2024

As Time Out New York puts it, ‘the outrageously talented Salty Brine takes classic pop albums—from Joni Mitchell’s Blue to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack—and weaves their songs into funny, perceptive tapestries of storytelling. The shows are highly addictive: Once you’ve been dunked into Brine, you’ll want to dive right back in’.
