Chin Wang: Wang’s Republic

Tue 6 Feb 60 minutes
Born and raised in China, Chin left her homeland for the UK at the tender age of 18. At the still-tender age of 28, she had enough of both countries and decided she should lead a new country.

A Wang-derful nation has therefore been born.

Fresh from Edinburgh Fringe, this debut is all about the oddities of British culture, the illogical language of English, and also a few hazard warnings for any first generation immigrants from East Asia to the UK. (This show should not be used as a survival guide, but it should be, though.)

As seen on BBC 3, as heard on BBC Radio. Tour support for Olga Koch. Nominated for BBC New Comedy Award 2022. Finalist of Scottish Comedian of the Year 2021. 2NorthDown New Act Competition 2021. Winner of King Gong at The Comedy Store.

Part of Soho Rising Festival 2024, a celebration of new work created by comedians, writers and performers who have taken part in our Writers’ Lab, Comedy Lab or Cabaret & Drag Lab programmes.
