After an acclaimed UK and Edinburgh Fringe debut with Soho Theatre last summer, Shamik Chakrabarti returns with a brand-new hour of his trademark deadpan wit.
Drawing on millennial observations from London, Melbourne and Edinburgh, Shamik explores the communication gaps that open up when universal connections fail to land, told through highly specific experiences, laid-back rants and his signature monotone delivery.
‘There was barely a moment when I wasn’t chuckling.‘ ★★★★ Live Review
Shamik Chakrabarti is a stand-up comedian based in India whose understated, deadpan style, and sharp observant writing have positioned him as one of India’s English-language comedy’s rising talents. He made his UK debut at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with his show DESPITE APPEARANCES , signalling his arrival onto the international comedy circuit. As the driving force behind the ‘unstoppable rise of Indian comedy in the UK’ (The Guardian, May 2024), Soho Theatre has introduced over 30 Indian artists to UK audiences over the past decade, on stages from Soho Theatre and Soho Theatre Walthamstow to the Royal Albert Hall.
‘Dry and confident but most importantly his material is so versatile it lands regardless of its geography.’ ★★★★ Youngish Perspective
