Soho Theatre Walthamstow Auditorium

A landmark venue in Walthamstow, our gorgeous Auditorium is designed with live performance, comfort and accessibility in mind. A refurbished 1930s cinema, the space combines historic character with modern design and functionality, delivering a beautiful, flexible space for audiences and artists alike.

A restored architectural gem

The Auditorium retains beautiful original features, including Moorish-inspired design details and a latticed ceiling with restored chandeliers, brought back to life as part of the building’s carefully considered restoration. It’s the perfect setting for clients looking to host an event with scale, impact and an unforgettable sense of occasion. Past events include major film and television recordings (Strictly Come Dancing, Stand Up to Cancer), editorial photoshoots (Glamour, GQ) live performances and conferences (The Stage Future Of Theatre, UK Musical Theatre Conference).

Layout & seating

The Auditorium has a total capacity of 962 seats:

Stalls: 674
Circle: 288

The seating is raked and slopes upwards from the stage, offering excellent sightlines throughout, with more legroom, cup holders, and removable seats to support access requirements.

Bars

We have three beautiful bars available to include in your hire. The Circle Bar offers excellent views of the stage, giving guests a sense of exclusivity while still enjoying a full range of drinks and snacks. The Ziggurat Bar, our largest space, is ideally located on the way into the stalls and can be hired alongside your event. The Cross Hall Bar provides an additional option upstairs, offering flexibility across the venue.

Access

There is lift access to the Stalls and Circle to support step-free access. Please let us know if you have any additional access requirements.

Add Ons

Use of the Theatre’s lighting and sound rig is included in your booking, along with a dedicated Duty Technician. There may be additional charges for hired equipment and additional staffing.

Hiring This Space

As with all our spaces there is a minimum four hour booking and there may be additional staffing costs depending on times and dates.

Availability is dependent on the Soho programme of shows, matinees and workshops.

Monday-Saturday

The building is open from 9.30am to 6pm each day for daytime hires. Evening hires are also availiable, please contact us for more details.

Sunday
As we’re usually closed to the public, Sunday rates are variable, and are bespoke to your event. Contact us at stwhires@sohotheatre.com if you’d like to hire us on a Sunday.
