Panel Event: Reflecting On Playwriting Prizes

Tue 12 Nov 24 60 minutes
Nathan Queeley-Dennis won the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting 2022 for his play Bullring Techno Makeout Jamz - the acclaimed production was championed by lead producer Ellie Keel, who also oversees the Women’s Prize for Playwriting.

As part of the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting’s 20th anniversary celebrations, and to celebrate the arrival of BULLRING’s national tour at Soho Theatre, a selection of national playwriting prizes are coming together to discuss the role they play in the new writing ecology and theatre industry.

Join the panel as they reflect on the successes and challenges these awards present to both playwrights and organisations. Panellists will include representatives from the Alfred Fagon Award, the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting, Papatango New Writing Prize, Soho Theatre’s Verity Bargate Award, Theatre503 International Playwriting Award & the Women’s Prize for Playwriting.

The panel discussion will be chaired by critically acclaimed theatre director Matthew Xia (Skeleton Crew, Donmar Warehouse; Tambo & Bones, ATC/Theatre Royal Stratford East)
