As the UK’s leading producer of Indian comedy, we’re excited to celebrate this mixed bill of emerging talent at the Soho Rising festival. The line-up:
Joshua Bethania
Joshua is a comedian from India who’s been on the scene since 2021. Having lived in London since 2019 his comedy tends to include his observations of life in London as an outsider and what he is doing to become an insider. A few highlights in his comedy career include winning SYTYF 2022, winning King Gong at the Comedy Store London, Finalist at NATYs 2022 and Finalist at BBC New Comedian Awards 2022.
Shruti Sharma
Shruti Sharma is an international woman, born and brought up in India, moved to France to pursue her Masters in International Business before moving to London in 2017. and She’s trained in Indian classical music, black belt in karate and programmed by patriarchy (just bragging at this point). Shruti brings all this enriched experience to her stand up and uses it to explore how much the men in her audience know about women in their lives. She uses dirty words like Feminism, periods and farts.
Rushali Paratey
Like New York City’s sewer covers, Rushali was made in India. Currently based in Amsterdam, she experiments with comedy – culture, people, history and the universe have annoyed and inspired her.
Ashish Suri
An Indian settled in the UK for a decade, Ashish tells stories of how outside of the Motherland, even the simple things in life are different. Correcting inaccurate stereotypes, explaining where they come from and pointing out that despite his tan, he’s just as weird as everyone else. After bringing his hour show Hipster Gone Rogue to the Soho Rising festival 2022, Ashish returns as MC to bring you a new set of Indian rising stars.
Nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and shortlisted for BBC New Comedy Award.
