From May to July 2021 we ran a 9-week Stand-up Comedy course with 15 Waltham Forest residents aged 18 – 59 years old.

The course included an industry session with Leyton-based comedian Sadia Azmat, leading to a sharing at Soho’s Comedy Takeover Day at Fellowship Square on 31 July 2021.

“The exposure to a group that was so varied across age, race, gender and disability was super interesting and is the best argument I have experienced for the power of neurodiversity within a group.”

“The course being free meant the difference between being able to take part or not. It formed the bridge between me wanting to do the course and actually being able to take part”

“The course taught me that recognising my fear and deciding to act on it has to be a choice that you make as part of your craft. It was emotive, empowering, exhilarating, terrifying and ultimately awesome”

“[This Lab] drew the extraordinary from us ordinary folks – quite magical”

This term we are currently running our very first Drag & Cabaret Lab with Waltham Forest participants.
