Everything you need to know about being a Member or Friend of Soho Theatre.
First Transaction Discount
All Members, Friends and Supporting Partners are offered a £10 discount on their first transaction when joining the scheme. In the event the first performance you would like to see is not eligible for this discount, we will hold a credit of £10 on your account to be used against your next purchase. Please note, this offer is only offered as part of your initial sign up and is not available on annual renewals or where you are transferring from an existing Friends or subscription scheme.
Members: You will be issued with a members’ card which will carry your name and expiry date. This will be given to you in person if registering at our box office, or you can collect it from box office the next time you’re at the theatre. We do not currently post out membership packs.
Friends/Supporting Partners: You will be issued with a members’ card which will carry your name and expiry date. This will be given to you in person if joining at our box office. All Friends and Supporting Partners will receive a Welcome Pack in the post, which will include your membership card if not previously collected. You will receive your Welcome Pack within 10 days of joining.
As a Member, Friend or Supporting Partner you agree not to pass on your membership card to anyone not part of the scheme so that they might benefit from any discounts within it. If Soho Theatre believes you are ‘sharing’ your membership card to secure benefits for anything within the scheme, we reserve the right to cancel your membership with immediate effect, without refunding any joining fee.
On renewal of your annual membership, we will issue you with a new membership card and the previous card will no longer be accepted.
Direct Debits (Friends and Supporting Partners only)
Direct Debits are managed and processed through the online platforms Charity Checkout and Go Cardless. More information on how these organisations process your personal data and your data protection rights, is available from the Charity Checkout Privacy Statement and GoCardless Privacy Notice.
If you purchase a membership either online or by telephone (but not, for the avoidance of doubt, if you purchase a membership in person at the Soho Theatre box office), you have a right to cancel your membership within 14 days from the day after purchase (the “cooling-off period”). If you cancel your membership within the cooling-off period then, subject to the below, you will receive a full refund.
Using Membership Benefits within your 14 day ‘Cooling Off’ Period
If you use any listed benefits of your membership but then cancel your membership within the cooling-off period, Soho Theatre reserves the right to deduct the face value price of such benefits from the sum refunded to you in respect of such cancellation. You acknowledge and agree that by using any listed benefits of membership within the first 14 days, you are expressly requesting that your membership benefits commence during the cooling off period.
Our membership schemes are only open to all patrons aged 18+
Tickets are subject to availability. In the instances where we have a limited number of Members’ or Friends’ tickets to sell at a particular price we will notify you of this in our communications with you. We reserve the right to limit the number of tickets any one member or Friend can buy to ensure a fair usage policy for all members and Friends.
Priority Notice and Booking
Members: Where possible, we will attempt to notify members of upcoming performances at Soho Theatre before these are announced to the general public. This is not always possible and sometimes our performances may be announced via social media or our website without members’ notification. Please note: we do not offer priority booking periods for members and cannot guarantee you will be the first to purchase tickets. If you would like priority booking, this is available via our Friends scheme, more details of which are to be found here.
Friends/Supporting Partners: Where possible, we will attempt to provide at least a 24-hour priority booking period for some of the hottest comedy shows and plays produced by Soho Theatre. Friends and Supporting Partners will be notified of priority booking by email. We cannot guarantee that priority booking will be offered on each occasion. If this is the case, Friends will receive advance notice.
Guest Nights (Friends and Supporting Partners only)
Friends and Supporting Partners will receive invitations to Guest Nights throughout the year by email. Tickets to each event are limited and subject to availability, therefore tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Upon acceptance of an invitation, Friends and Supporting Partners will receive two complimentary tickets to the chosen event and 2 two complimentary drinks vouchers, which are non-transferrable. A record of how many Guest Nights have been attended over a 12-month period will be recorded on your record on our database and we reserve the right to change the frequency of invitations sent if you have exceeded the number of events available to your level of membership.
We are not able to carry over any unused complimentary tickets from one year’s allocation to the next.
Members Offers and Concessions
Concessions cannot be used on Members/Friends’ ticket offers. We are confident that the offers we promote financially outweigh any concession you may be entitled to. In the unlikely event that you purchase a members/Friends deal rather than a concession, and the concession turns out to be a cheaper option, we will rectify this transaction on the system and credit your account with any monies owing. In the event you use concession priced tickets where Members/Friends deals calculate cheaper, Soho Theatre will make a decision on an individual basis whether we can change your booking.
Other Offer Outlets
Soho Theatre reserves the right to offer some last-minute discounting via agreed outlets that is comparative to Members/Friends offers. Members/Friends tickets purchased cannot be refunded in light of any subsequent discounts advertised elsewhere.
For some events, such as where we sell on behalf of another client or festival, there may be booking fees attached to tickets. Whilst we may offer Members/Friends ticket deals for these events, the booking fee will always stand to be paid in full, and we will always make the booking fee clear in our communications with you.
Tickets must not be sold by Members, Friends or Supporting Partners for profit or commercial gain. Failure to comply will make this ticket and transaction void and we reserve the right to revoke your membership without refunding your joining fee if we believe you are benefiting from reselling tickets from the scheme.
To avoid unauthorised resale of tickets, tickets will not be posted out and should be collected from the Box Office.
Exchanges and Refunds
We will exchange tickets for another performance of the same production if you return your tickets or demonstrate proof of purchase to the Ticket Office 48 hours before the original performance date. There is an administration charge of £2 per ticket for exchanges. Please note that we can only action an exchange once we are in receipt of the original ticket.
Once purchased tickets cannot be refunded. We will only offer ticket refunds for cancelled shows. We regret that we will not be able to offer a refund or exchange on your ticket(s) if you are refused entry to a performance due to being late.
Data Usage and Evaluation
Members: The Members Scheme communications are done digitally through an enewsletter and therefore we require your permission to use your email to communicate these benefits to you. If you do not give us permission to use your email address or elect to unsubscribe from the newsletters, we will continue to host monthly offers on our website. Unfortunately we won’t be able to keep you up to date with the last minute additions to the programme or advance notice on the biggest shows.
Friends/Supporting Partners: The majority of communications to Friends are done digitally through the Friends Newsletter and Guest Night invitations. If you elect to unsubscribe from the newsletter or Guest Night invitations we will continue to host monthly offers on our website. Unfortunately we won’t be able to keep you up to date with the last minute additions to the programme or advance notice on the biggest shows. Friends will receive their Welcome Pack in the post and two reminders when their membership is due for renewal.
We will not give your email address to any other organisation or third party without your express permission gained during the booking process or by updating your preferences in your online account, and all emails you receive regarding the scheme will be from Soho Theatre. Should we wish to pass your information on, we will ask for your consent before doing so.
By granting us access to your email address, you also give us permission to send you esurveys and other invites to help us ensure we receive feedback and evaluation of the scheme, so we can continue to improve it. We also reserve the right to record your attendance and booking patterns via our box office system to help us monitor the success of the scheme.
Due to the layout of some spaces and the nature of our building, the Management reserves the right to refuse admission or re-entry to a performance. Latecomers may either be asked to wait until a suitable break in the performance, or be refused admission. Please try and arrive in plenty of time for your show as some performances have a strict no-latecomers policy.
Collecting at the Box Office
Tickets may be collected from the Box Office any time between 10am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and up to 10 minutes before the start time of shows which start after 10pm. We recommend picking up your tickets at least half an hour before the performance begins. Please bring along the card you paid with and proof of eligibility for any discounted tickets.
