This autumn 2019 Soho Theatre is offering playwriting workshops to introduce new writers to our Verity Bargate Award.
The workshops are timed to provide writers with the best opportunity to submit their new play for the Verity Bargate Award 2020.
The Verity Bargate Award is our biennial playwriting competition which has been running for over 35 years and is an opportunity for us to discover and platform the most exciting new playwrights of our generation. To increase applicant reach, we run an extensive national workshop programme, engaging playwrights from around the UK and Ireland with the work of Soho Theatre and describing to them first hand what we are looking for.

Sat 23 Nov -Writing a play inspired by lived experience – with playwright Yolanda Mercy
Sat 30 Nov – workshop with Gillian Greer, Literary Manager of Soho Theatre
Thu 12 Dec – workshop for LGBTQ+ artists led by Amie Taylor (LGBTQ+ Arts) and Jules Haworth (Soho Theatre’s Education Producer)
Sat 14 Dec – workshop with Eve Leigh, playwright
