If you’re looking to flex those comedy muscles again then Comedy Lab Plus is perfect for comedians who already have experience, but are looking for the next step. You can do all 6 online sessions or pick the one (s) right for you. This lab can help you with polishing your material, honing your voice for an online format or developing your comedy character.

All workshops led by Alison Thea-Skot.

We have a number of full bursaries available to cover the cost for anyone unemployed or claiming Universal Credit or other benefits at the moment. Please email dimple@sohotheatre.com if you’d like to make a bursary request.

 

Schedule:

1 – Online comedy voices- receive feedback on your material – Sat 14th Nov
How to make the most of performing online. Participants are welcome to bring around 2 minutes of material and will receive feedback from the workshop leader. 10 participants.

2 –   Character Comedy – Sat 21st Nov
This workshop will share tips and tricks to create and build comedy characters for online or in person performances. 20 participants.

3 – Using improv as a solo comedian – Sat 28th Nov
This workshop will share improv skills and tools to help solo comics develop material and performance techniques. 20 participants.

4 – Auditioning as a comedian – Sat 5th Dec
How to bring your comedy skills to the audition room and prepare yourself vocally and physically. 20 participants.

5 – Prepping for festivals – Sat 12 Dec
If you’re considering taking a show to a festival for the first time, join us for some advice and tips on how to make the most of the experience. 20 participants.

This is an online event. Bookers will be emailed on a link to the workshop one hour in advance of their session.

 

 

Bio:

Alison Thea-Skot is a critically acclaimed actor, comedian, improviser and writer. ‘The reigning queen of character comedy’ Evening Standard. Selected as one of the Observer’s Female Millennials Changing Comedy, the Evening Standard’s Best Comedy Shows to See and The Telegraph’s Best of the Fringe. She can be seen on Comedy Central, Sky, BBC and has worked with Bad Robot & Paramount Pictures.
She is also a highly experienced improviser, performing regularly with London’s leading improv Theatre, The Free Association, where she also teaches improv and is Head of Business Training, building bespoke improv programs.
