What the world needs now is some Cabaret & Drag.
So, obviously we’re running our very own online cabaret & drag course. Perfect for those of you who want to try it for the first time or further develop your skills. You can do all 6 sessions or pick the one (s) right for you with topics like building an act, make up & costume and gender play.
We have a number of full bursaries available to cover the cost for anyone unemployed or claiming Universal Credit or other benefits at the moment. Please email dimple@sohotheatre.com if you’d like to make a bursary request.

An exploration into what makes cabaret and drag unique performance styles, what they express, and what is possible.
2- Building an Act- led by Molly Beth Morossa – Sat 21 Nov
Discover how different genres, styles and disciplines can come together to create something unique, subversive, exciting and avant-garde.
3- Gender Play- Led by Celine Lowenthal – Sat 28 Nov
Explore the role that gender plays in drag & cabaret, through this creative, sensitive and celebratory workshop.
4- Aesthetics- led by Molly Beth Morossa – Sat 5 Dec
A fun, creative look at how make up and costume can elevate and transform creative practices
5- Cabaret Skills -led by Molly Beth Morossa – Sat 12 Dec
Practical Performance Skills: Learn some of the key skills that underpin drag and cabaret acts, including delicious taster of choreography, lip-syncing, sound collages, and striptease.
6. Devising & Writing- led by Celine Lowenthal – Sat 19 Dec
This practical workshop centres around core creative skills at the heart of making an act: devising new ideas and writing your own material.
This is an online event. Bookers will be emailed on a link to the workshop one hour in advance of their session.
Bios:
Molly Beth Morossa is a multi-award winning theatre-maker, writer, cabaret artist and goth based in London. Morossa is Head of Cabaret at Shotgun Carousel, and has performed and curated cabaret all over the country including at The Glastonbury Festival, Royal Academy, Tate Modern, The Vaults, Latitude Festival and Courtald Gallery to name a few. They were crowned Miss Ghostwood in the Miss Twin Peaks Pageant 2018, and regularly performs with the dark, Lynchian cabaret show The Double R Club. Morossa is one of the creative producers on Third Mind Production & Guerilla Zoo’s theatrical event The Goblin King’s Masquerade Ball. They wrote, produced and performed 2 solo shows, Carnival of Crows (Winner Best Actress Award – Dark Chat 2012) and Greywing House (Winner Vault Festival Spirit Award 2017).
Celine Lowenthal is an award-winning theatre director and dramaturg, and artistic director of Pecs Drag Kings. Her production of Sex Sex Men Men won the Off-West End ‘Idea’ Award 2019, and she has also directed sold-out, critically acclaimed productions at The Yard Theatre, Soho Theatre, Camden People’s Theatre and The Vaults. She directed Shotgun Carousel’s first two flagship immersive productions at The Vaults, Divine Proportions (2018) and Red Palace (2019). Twice longlisted for the JMK Director’s Award, she was Associate Director of the Herald Award-winning Shadwell Opera 2017 – 2018, and is an associate of Milk Presents, winners of a Fringe First & Spirit of the Fringe. She is also an experienced assistant and associate director, working at Hampstead Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Sheffield Crucible, Bath Theatre Royal, and in the Vaudeville Theatre & Arts Theatre in the West End. Her production of Kingdom, co-written and co-created with award-winning writer Temi Wilkey, was supported by The Bush, Soho Theatre, and Arts Council England. She has been a co-leader of Soho Theatre’s Cabaret & Drag Lab since 2018.
