Autumn Theatre Season 2019
World premieres, Edinburgh transfers and returning Soho favourites - a new season of surprise and subversion.
Vocal virtuoso, charming provocateur, master prose stylist.
After recent shows at Lincoln Center, New York and Centre Pompidou, Paris, Joseph Keckler makes his UK debut, performing an intimate evening of his work in concert form – haunting art-pop songs and wild arias about daily life that spiral into the sublime and ridiculous. Hailed by New York Times as ‘a major vocal talent whose range shatters the conventional boundaries… with a trickster’s dark humour’, he delivers an experience that dances between comedy, commentary, and communion.
Accompanied by soulful pianist and vocalist Matthew Dean Marsh.
‘As a writer and singer he nudges language to its limits; as a performer he is uncannily commanding.’
