Soho Theatre and Glynis Henderson Productions by arrangement with DBM present:

James Rhodes

Mon 5 – Fri 9 Feb 18 70 minutes
A welcome return to Soho for the maverick classical pianist, best-selling author and TV presenter.

James is a maverick classical pianist, best-selling author and TV presenter. He has released six albums, all of which have topped the iTunes classical charts. He has performed globally including, New York ,Colombia, Argentina, Australia, Mexico and Europe.

His trademark style is unique: rather than simply delivering a concert, James peppers his performances with anecdotes, jokes and observations about the composers and the times they lived in. He talks directly to the audience, charming them with a wit and knowledge that makes for a highly entertaining evening.

James’ Sunday Times and international bestselling memoir, Instrumental, published by Canongate is a brutally honest, moving and compelling story that was almost banned until the UK Supreme Court unanimously overthrew an injunction in May 2015. Instrumental topped the bestseller lists in UK, Spain and South America. His second book, How to Play the Piano, promising to give anyone the tools they need in order to play a Bach prelude, was published by Quercus in 2016 to great acclaim. James is launching his new album and book Fire On All Sides on 11th January 2018 in which he attempts to find how to make the unbearable bearable in the most exposing circumstances imaginable. Luckily, there is the music. There is always the music.
