Rooted in a medieval fortress within the renaissance Croatian town of Šibenik, the first ever Comedy Fortress Festival will be held on the beautiful open air stage of Barone’s Fortress, giving audiences and comedians the full package – a comedy festival with great shows, excited audiences, and stunning views.

Festival headliner is the great Dylan Moran (Black Books, Shaun of the Dead) with his latest and highly acclaimed show, Doctor Cosmos. Moran’s fellow Irishman, Jimeoin, currently settled in Australia, will be escaping Melbourne’s winter and stopping by to laugh with us in Šibenik to kick off his European gigs.  Shappi Khorsandi (Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats), Nish Kumar (The Mash Report) and Edinburgh Comedy Award 2018 Best Show winning kiwi Rose Matafeo (Funny Girls) all feature on the lineup and are joined by Edinburgh Comedy Award 2018 Best Newcomer Nominee, Russian comedian Olga Koch.

Other guests include English comedian Kai Humphries and Kiwi comedian Javier Jarquin with his popular card-trick-with-comedy show, Card Ninja and two comics from the region are featuring – Croatian Vlatko Štampar, and Nikola Silić from Belgrade.

Partners Garden Brewery and Adriatic Coasting will ensure that festival guests are treated to top-class music to match the top-class comedy on offer. DJs from Adriatic Coasting are tasked with creating the perfect atmosphere at the warm-up parties that will take place every evening form 7pm at the Fortress, while Garden Brewery will spruce things up with their excellent craft beers, setting the stage perfectly for guests to enjoy the beautiful sunset. The team from Adriatic Coasting will return after the day’s comedy is finished, so festival goers will be able to party to their heart’s content until the early hours of the morning.

Swim in the Adriatic, visit nearby islands, journey through the breathtaking scenery of the national parks, taste the best-of-the-best local seafood… and in the evening enjoy top-class comedy, followed by music. Adriatic summers don’t get better than this.

Activities
We highly recommend a visit to Krka National Park, or a short trip to one of the nearby islands. You could also simply take a stroll to one of the city’s beaches. Šibenik itself is worth exploring, with its beautiful cathedral an architectural fusion of Gothic and Renaissance art. Foodies will not be disappointed in Sibenik, with excellent seafood to be found with virtually every step taken. It is worth mentioning that Šibenik is home to one of the two Croatian restaurants decorated with Michelin stars.

But whatever you choose to do, remember that each day will end with top-class stand-up comedy at the fortress. Sunsets, weather permitting, are included in the package.
