This November our Soho Rising festival hosts a bunch of the brightest new Soho Theatre Labs voices, over a fortnight.
Award winning comedian, writer and broadcaster, Jarlath Regan brings his critically acclaimed An Irishman Abroad podcast to Soho theatre.
Roisin Conatty and Laura Whitmore take part in a night of discussion, craic and honest chat about the challenges facing women in the entertainment industry, Ireland’s abortion referendum and whatever else they can squeeze into an hour. The multi-million-downloaded podcast by Jarlath Regan has been lauded for both the quality of the guests (Sharon Horgan, Sir Bob Geldof, Graham Linehan and Gabriel Byrne) and the distilled truth he finds in each conversation. This live recording will be no exception.”
The show has previously featured in-depth interviews with Irish stars such as Sharon Horgan, Gabriel Byrne, Sir Bob Geldof, Graham Linehan, Dara O’Briain, Chris O’Dowd, Boy George, Dylan Moran and musician Lisa Hannigan about their experiences abroad.
Jarlath created the podcast in 2013 and in just a few episodes it shot straight to number one in the iTunes charts, won glowing reviews from the press including The Guardian. The Daily Telegraph went as far as to say that it “could turn out to be one of the biggest podcasts since Ricky Gervais picked up a microphone.” An Irishman Abroad was named to the much coveted iTunes Best of 2013 list as the best new audio podcast of the year.
Jarlath’s been seen on Tonight at the Palladium (ITV), Stand up Central (Comedy Central) Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up, Last Comic Standing on NBC, and The Apprentice You’re Fired (TV3).
