If you live or work in Waltham Forest and are thinking of stepping into the spotlight for the first time as a stand-up, you’ll need our Comedy Lab Stand Up Lab.
Our 9-week Stand Up Comedy course will help you find your comedic voice, take you through exercises and games to generate material, hone your writing and performance skills to structure a short stand up set, and give participants an insight into the industry. The goal of the course is to create your own 3.5 minute set which you will perform, at the end of term, in front of a live and supportive audience. The course will be made up of fifteen participants who will be selected by the team and placed onto the course with a funded bursary.
The Comedy Lab Stand-Up group will meet weekly on Saturdays (2.5 hours) and will be a mixture of online and in person. Led by Gemma Leader, classes will start on Saturday 5th June until Saturday 31st July. On Saturday 31st July we will hold a public sharing at Fellowship Square, where you’ll be able to showcase what you’ve learned over the course in a safe environment, at our very own Soho Theatre event. We ask that participants commit to attending all 9 weeks and are 18 years or older at the start of the course. Course dates are:
