We want to enable writers to create the best entertaining, challenging and profound new work.
We want to nurture writing that pushes the form in a way that delights and surprises.
We want to work with writers from conception to production.
We will identify and support the most exciting talents from every background and area of society.
We are a first port of call for a new writer, brave idea or surprising collaboration.
While we love to produce a writer’s first play, we have no objections to their second, third or fiftieth.
Through commissions, residencies and attachments, readings and workshops, our writers’ programmes enable us to deepen our relationships with artists, forge conversations and develop ideas – all with the aim of creating unforgettable nights out on stage.
The support and guidance I received from Soho Theatre during the development and production of Baghdad Wedding was first rate. The feedback I got at every stage was always precise and helped me to develop as a writer. I have also received further support during the writing of my second play which has been invaluable. Soho Theatre is the perfect home for an emerging writer.”
