Hi, Liz again. We’ve now worked our way through all 22 plays and are now busy learning lines and going through each one again and adding more detail. We ran the second half of the show this morning (or Thursday’s show) which also involved working out the transitions between each play and trying to make them as smooth as possible. Each play has a different setting so we have to clear or rearrange the stage in between each one. We are also working with more props so we have to remember which ones to take with us when we go on stage!
Hello, I am Martin. I am not an actor - I have the much more boring job of working in the office at the theatre! My job is Project Coordinator for the Under 11s Showcase, part of which involves making sure that everything runs smoothly on the days of the performances. Have been in contact with all your teachers, providing them with the information they need and also trying to organise a celebrity to meet you all. You’ll have to wait until next week to find out who – sorry!
I have read all of the winning scripts – they were all great fun to read and I have been watching the rehearsals this afternoon. It’s fantastic to see your scripts come to life! Saw The Cuss Fight and The Vixen Association Script – both were really funny and then saw This is Africa which is more serious stuff.
Look forward to meeting you all next week. You will see me when you arrive. Because I am deaf I will have a sign language interpreter with me to sign what people say to me so don’t be surprised to see her! Her name is Ali and she is looking forward to seeing the plays too.
Day 4!! The plays are amazing. We had a run of act 2 and they are really coming together. The main focus of today was to add the sound and props and they look great!! The Dark Rider is especially funny and comical, with high energy from the whole cast. – I secretly think that AJ will fall in love with Lisa – but don’t tell anyone!! Ilan and Rich are diong thriller and Liz and myself will be singing too, so we get a chance to flex our singing vocal cords as well as acting. – I’m a bit nervous about singing, but I’m sure it’ll be lots of fun…. Anyway, must dash, duty calls!!

We’ve now rehearsed all the plays once and are going through for a second time, putting in the details and exploring the characters a little more. Its really good to see the show coming together. The second half has lots of great moments in it and it was good for me to see the run today. There’s a lots of emotional depths to explore in plays like Forever Friends , The Climb and All the worlds a stage. The Blue Agent is out of this world, and we have lots of fun trying to make it work. I like the Forbidden Room because it’s so short but very powerful. We’re still working out, quite how to play the characters of Zain and Ella to make it really chilling. The Ghost from Transylvania was just lots of fun too. I really enjoy the fact that all the plays are so unique and individual.
