Soho Theatre meets... Lucy Farrett

Tue 10 October

The Soho Theatre Young Company (SYC) is a melting pot of new and growing talent for those aged 11+. With numerous courses encorporating all aspects of comedy, theatre and playwriting it has quickly become one of the top arts education programmes in London and beyond. This autumn Soho Theatre plays host to shows from a bunch of its brightest new voices, including SYC members, in the Upstairs space – a studio originally designed for ‘emerging companies, young people and brave new writing.’

We had a chat with Lucy Farrett ahead of her Soho Rising show here.

Nice to meet you! What’s your name?
Lucy Farrett.

Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I once had a club sandwich with Geoffrey Rush and he told me he loves Soho Theatre! TRUE STORY.

Tell us about your experience of SYC.
Doing the courses with the SYC was one of the best things I have ever done, as I got to play and try out comedy with amazing like-minded, fun people that I could make a buffoon of myself in front of with absolutely no judgement – what’s not to love!

What’s your show about?
LadyFace is a fast, mad, character comedy show where I play 8 different lady characters, such as a Medieval poet, the real Audrey Hepburn and a woman who owns a dog WOW. I also wear a pink tutu throughout and all my props are made of cardboard that hang off of a clothes horse. Essentially it’s a wacky, fantastical, surreal character comedy show with a cool outfit and inventive recycling!

Why should people come and see it?
Come and see LadyFace because I hope you’ll be simultaneously entertained, terrified and endeared by my strange character creations. It’s pretty much The Mighty Boosh/Victoria Wood lovechild of solo character comedy, with a killer scene change soundtrack.

You can catch Lucy Farrett here in LadyFace on Tue 31 Oct at 9pm.
