Soho Theatre meets... Brennan ReeceThu 8 December 2016
We caught up with Brennan Reece of his run here from Mon 16 Jan
Hi! Nice to meet you, what’s your name?
How rude! You know you should never ask a man his exact name. Or is that age? It’s Brennan. Brennan Reece.
Where are you from?
I am from The North…Manchester…And like most Mancunians, dead proud of it. It is full of pound shops and bingo halls, but I just love it!
What brings you here?
You know. That’s why we are doing this interview. Ohhhhh, I am supposed to pretend. Well, my Edinburgh nominated show ‘Everglow’ brings me to London. That is the only way they let a northerner in the nations capital, you have to bring something you’ve created or something worth loads of money. I have brought none of the two.
Sorry, didn’t get you a drink, what would you like?
Some crisps or nuts?
Depends which ones are on offer. I don’t really fancy those ones that are daft flavours, like Ox and Shallot hand pressed potato chips… They are Beef and Onion, stop it!
So, what’s so special about your show?
It’s hard to answer this without sounding like an ‘Ox and Shallot’ wanker. I worked dead hard on it. Like properly hard. I put more work into this than I did into my GCSE’s…it is a show I am proud of, and there’s not many things that I am proud of. So that makes it special.
How did the idea of the show come about?
I was writing a completely different show, and then about a year ago, something happened, that has changed my life forever. Oh that sounds good doesn’t it. “Something happened…………that has changed my life forever”. That’ll sell tickets. Because they’ll want to know what it is. And the only way they’ll find out, is by getting a ticket. Or asking a friend who has been to see it.
Do you come here often?
You’ve not even got me that drink yet.
Where are you going after here…
You can catch Brennan Reece in Everglow, here from Mon 16 – Sat 21 Jan< Back to List
