SOHO THEATRE ANNOUNCES SPRING SEASON 2013

Artistic Director Steve Marmion has announced a packed Spring Season for Soho Theatre; kicking off the year is the return of the London International Mime Festival in its second year at Soho Theatre with the return of Blind Summit after last year’s hit The Table, plus Invisible Thread in Soho Upstairs. Following the festival in the main house is new musical LIFT, further demonstrating Soho Theatre’s commitment to bringing new musical theatre into the Main House and London. Other new work includes a co-production with Talawa Theatre Company and The Albany with the world premiere of Soho Six 2011 member Arinze Kene’s God’s Property. Having had a hugely successful 2012 the triple award-winning Doctor Brown comes home to Soho Theatre for a celebratory four week run; joining him is winner of the Foster’s Comedy Newcomer Award Daniel Simonsen, plus this year’s nominees.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

LONDON INTERNATIONAL MIME FESTIVAL returns to Soho Theatre with two shows; the return of Blind Summit with THE HEADS and Invisible Thread’s LES HOMMES VIDES.

LIFT this vibrant new musical has its first full length run in Soho Theatre Main House, with music and lyrics by Craig Adams, book by Ian Watson and directed by Steven Paling.

GOD’S PROPERTY Soho Theatre with Talawa Theatre Company and The Albany bring Arinze Kene’s ambitious new play set in Deptford 1982 to the Main House for its world premiere

DOCTOR BROWN the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner, Melbourne Comedy Festival Barry Award Winner and Total Theatre Innovation Award Winner is back at Soho Theatre for a four week run.

FOSTERS SEASON presenting the winner of the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Newcomer Award DANIEL SIMONSEN, plus nominees DAVID TRENT, JOE LYCETT and SAM FLETCHER. Plus nominees for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award CLAUDIA O’DOHERTY, JAMES ACASTER, TONY LAW and PAPPYS.

SOHO UPSTAIRS continuing to present the most exciting work from emerging artists this season sees the London debuts of BITCH BOXER, BOTTLENECK and Dirty Great Love Story.

ALEXEI SAYLE after his return to live performance hosting a special series of shows at the start of the year, we’re proud to welcome Alexei Sayle back to Soho Theatre with his first new stand-up show in over 16 years.
