PATRICIA ROUTLEDGE - FACING THE MUSIC
Sun 13 May 2012We are thrilled to announce that Soho Theatre was chosen by Rotary club of Westminster East & Rotaract Club of Westminster, together with two other charities as a beneficiary for their fundraising theatre event, ROTARYACT. The event is taking place on Sun 13 May & Sun 17 June at Charing Cross Theatre. This event promises to help us develop some very exciting projects, especially our Late Edition Playreading Group and community projects such as our Under 11s Playwriting Workshops.
Special guest at the event is famous comedian & actress Patricia Routledge. Her many awards include a Tony for her Broadway performance in the Styne-Harburg musical Darling of the Day (1967) and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in Leonard Bernstein’s Candide (Old Vic 1989). Her one woman show Come For The Ride toured the UK in 1988 and in 1992 she played Nettie Fowler in the highly acclaimed production of Carousel at the National Theatre. In 1998 she was honoured with the Gold Badge of Merit by the Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
The event promises to be a fascinating evening for fans of Patricia Routledge and theatre-lovers, and is a great opportunity to help Soho Theatre continue to find and nurture some of the most exciting new playwrights.
100% of ticket proceeds benefit Polio Plus, Shelter Box and Soho Theatre Writers Centre equally.
