DOCTOR BROWN SHORTLISTED FOR EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD 2012
Wed 22 August 2012Soho Theatre’s very own Doctor Brown has been nominated for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award 2012 for his show Befrdfgth, making up possibly one of the best ever shortlists for the title of Best Show.
Doctor Brown (real name Phil Burgers) brought mime back onto the comedy stage, delighting and unnerving audiences with his creative, innovative style. Befrdfgth has already picked up the Melbourne equivalent, the Barry Award for Best show, and picked up a string of 4 and 5 star reviews, in addition to an equal amount of praise being heaped upon his current kids show, Doctor Brown Brown Brown Brown Brown and His Singing Tiger
We are particularly delighted, as Soho Theatre has been working very closely with Doctor Brown over the years, bringing both Befrdfgth and Doctor Brown Brown Brown Brown Brown and His Singing Tiger up to this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and having last year presented his hugely successful, multiple award nominated show Becaves both in Edinburgh and in London, as well as housing his highly original and unique clowning workshops.
